Just doing some research, but does anyone have any idea of how many season ticket holders we had while exiled at Preistfield from 1997-99 ?

Also, anyone have a decent estimate on how many people that have had season tickets at each of our 4 (relatively) recent homes?

(ie I wouldn't count as only had STs at Goldstone and Amex)

Many thanks in advance

I did not own a season-ticket at Priesfield but I went to every single (competitive) game that we played there.

So now I fully appreciate where we are and what we have now.

I had one for the second season at Priestfield and also the last couple of seasons at tne Goldstone. Primary reason for getting the Priestfield one was that there was talk that we would move back to Withdean part way through the season so wanted to make sure we were in pole position for that. Obviously that didn’t happen and, if I was being cynical, I’d say it was a great marketing ploy by Dick to get more income to help pay for the move (not that I’m complaining).

Same. Went to virtually most games at the Goldstone from about 1986 onwards, but never had any real need to buy a ST. Responded to the Withdean rumours by buying a ST for Gillingham as we were going up there for most of the matches anyway. Have had one at Withdean and the Amex ever since.

Whatever happened to storming Norman Rae? Used to drive the minibus/coach to away games and he used to sit just in front of me at Withdean. Not seen him in years.
Still around the Eastbourne area (not driving busses for a living, works in office capacity now I think). Don't think he goes Albion games much if at all. Was a sterling servant to making A21 Club trips viable. Top man.

No idea how many, but I reckon the great majority of the home attendees were STH. There was a small die hard band who would have gone whatever. I reckon we had very few who just went for the odd game.

Had a season ticket for the first year at Pissfield. Never want to go back ever again. Was at Uni for the second year, so have a valid excuse!
Yep me too, that first season at Priestfield was worse than dire, we received a terrible welcome from the locals, and the standard of footbal was awful. I just couldn't face another year there.

I didn't renew my season ticket until 2001 for our second season at Withdean. But l have been a season ticket holder at all four of our homes.

Me plus dad. Tough times. We had many an argument on the journey there. When he was driving his navigation and driving was awful leading to many a hairy moment. Drove me mad for two seasons. But I’d gladly have that journey with him one more time now after he passed away several years ago.

An interesting story about Gillingham was that the turnstile operators and those doing the counting of money were all employed by Gillingham. There was feelings that the attendance was being deliberately shown as lower and money being syphoned off.

After a month of this, Knight asked that before the crowd was announced it was to be brought to him in the directors box. Anyway they came up and told him it was 1700 and something to which he nodded and the said 'try again'. They looked a bit bemused until he told them he had placed clickers outside each turnstile block and he knew it was nearer 2000 and something. Funny enough they later said there was a block they had forgotten to count!
I remember someone from the club telling a story at Seagulls Over London they also got the match day photographer to photograph the stands so they could count the number of punters at the game.
