What are you talking about? Read my words and stop trying to be my personal scriptwriter. I’m accusing the Labour Right (who the hell are the centre left) of tolerating Mandelson’s dodgy connections with Epstein and having a very weird incidence of dodgy people in their ranks
Maybe it's the same bad luck that led JC to have so many people he stood next to turn out to have some very dodgy views on terrorism and Jewish people?

Couldn’t disagree more. One ‘positive’ about Brexit is a chance to create our own regulation in this space as the EU are currently tying itself in knots.

Posted in another thread that Starmer has appointed a lady as Minister for Investment who by the age of 42 had created a Ai-driven cyber security company which was a bit of a ‘darling’ of UK Tech which sold last year for £5.2Bn.

We absolutely should be looking to capitalise in this space

Agree but there must be some caution, safeguards etc. AI is nothing particularly new and we already have societal issues as a result of the ‘tech’ explosion. The ‘mainlining’ analogy may be another poor PR/spin attempt by Labour but it does imply a lack of awareness or (worse) a lack of interest in the dangers.
That aside (though a massive caveat IMHO) Labour are right to target AI and associated ‘tech’ as a focus for national investment.

As a labour supporter I draw the line at technology that massively increases efficiency and leads to the loss of jobs.

By draw the lime, I mean draw the line at objections.

Disruptive change is inescapable and the solution isn't Ludditism.
AI can be hugely beneficial in some industries as an aid to say drs a looking for signs of cancer in a patients scans but what do you make of ai being used to wholesale replace creative people in advertisement where the ai is trained on other peoples copyrighted works? See for an example the coke christmas ads from this year and the ai art movement.

You must take such pride in how it's all developing with the Labour hierarchy. Appears Lammy is in Israel with his grubby mitts just as you post.

Fundamentally we al expect too much from too little put in. The state does not work well and is clunky and wasteful. Many big companies are too big to fail - so will get bailed out by governmnets, but when they are doing well, they keep the profits. We are all asking for too much stuff that never used to exist 30+ years ago.
This is much of the problem in a nutshell. Trying to explain to my Daily Mail reading associate that their hip replacement and cataract operations that they had done for 'free' on the NHS have to be funded somehow is hard work. They simply don't see the connection.

Really. Everyone 'hates' him??

Congrats on taking what I put and producing this diatribe in response. With lovely graphic memes

as I said, JC was just unlucky that every time he was pictured near am image with anti semitic tropes on a speakers playform, or endorsed an artist who just happened to have produced anti semitic imagery, or welcome friends to Parliament who just happened to be from proscribed terrorist organisation, that it was just bad luck and a misinterpreting.

I can't see anything I said in that justifies or is even relevant to what you added. Maybe you can enlighten me?

My apologies if you didn't find my post relevant. Can't say that I find many that focus or detract on the Tories or Corbyn (as yours in this case) relevant to the thread title either.
Glad you liked the memes though 👍🏻

Well, this isn't particularly positive reading for any of us...

Rachel Reeves is heading for the brick wall of an emergency Budget
The chancellor has only herself to blame for failing to give herself any escape routes from humiliation

What surprises me is how so many folk couldn't work out why the Conservatives called an early election. They could see all of this coming down the road. A later election would have been worse than the one they called. The current state is not just Labour's fault, it is everyone's fault.

The finances of the country have been in a mess for some time. It was the perfect election to lose.

My concern is that things won't get much better, whoever holds the purse strings. Not least because BREXIT, according to independent reports from the OFS, is costing the country 4% of GDP. The media is pretty silent about this in general, depending on their allegiance.

And here is the problem, the politicians of this country, whichever party they belong to, care more about their own positions than being honest and involving everyone in collaborative governance. Personally, I stopped having any political allegiance a while ago. It's part of the problem.

Pound has gone down again and borrowing costs at a new high. This is getting very messy

Problem is a lot of people don't draw a line between taxation and government spending. To give the example of WASPI women, it would have cost £10.5 billion to compensate them. For all the cries to repay them, that money would have either have had to come through new taxes, cutting from other areas or increased borrowing. None of which is desirable.

(Note I do acknowledge that Labour politicians shouldn't have said they were going to compensate them when in opposition as much as Conservative politicians really can't moan as they did nothing about it when in power).
Covid cost between £310 billion and £410 Billion depending on which figures you take.

WASPI compensation is peanuts by comparison.

Highligted line is main issue here - say one thing in oppostion - do opposite when in power.

Just checking on the FT website, Sterling is still higher against the Euro than it has been for almost all of the past 8 years (ie, ever since the Brexit referendum). It IS slightly lower than it's been over the winter, but the last couple of months have seen Sterling unusually high against the Euro. The Euro is down 7% against the dollar over the past year, whereas Sterling is down 5%. 10 year gilt yields are actually slightly below Friday.

I'm not saying "don't worry" - it's obviously not great at the mo - but I'm not panicking (yet!)

The sooner we accept what an act of self harm Brexit was the better. Even now I’m not sure of any success stories in the economy or industries seeing a big uptick directly related.

I have some experience around the AI announcements today which is great but in all honesty it’s stuff we should have been planning for 10 years ago, and a lot of the manufacturing components related to this investment will be going out to Europe & the US as we haven’t had the foresight to invest in these areas.

Implementing A.I is a great thing as long as there is a strategy with clear objectives along with a clear understanding of what implementing it should achieve/deliver. It is not a single silver bullet and I think in it's current form is best delivered as a support tool to humans (who can check its work).

Since ChatGPT became popular a few years ago many businesses have been in touch with the company I work for with an interest in A.I type tech. I went to a rather large Insurance company and in the first meeting with some relatively senior people was told that they don't know what A.I is but they know they need it along with the savings it brings. They had no strategy or plan and we told them without a plan or them giving us some direction as to where we should start we wouldn't be able to help them. (They attended one of our conferences at the end of 2024 and told us they had spent tens of millions with a competitor who had only delivered promises and are now trying to get out of the contract)

I will try and look at the detail of what the government are planning later but I am not filled with confidence and wouldn't be surprised if Starmer is just throwing buzzwords out.

What quantity of sunsets and risings of the sun will we together encounter as an NSC species before @Bozza concludes to experimental replacement human Moderators with AI alternatives?

To be doing thus many would consider to be of the no-brainer option. Ha! Ha! Let's laugh together as a big group! For many of the fucknut posterers on North Standing Chatterbox would be unable to notice the differential! Who knows - one day soonest, this AI Moderator may be happening. Here. And there too.

There won’t be many of those folk as i’m pretty certain, The Labour Party, The LD’s The SNP, and every other tin potparty & their members/supporters and the whole of NSC were shouting from the rooftops for a GE 😂

Careful what you wish for…..
