[Albion] Brentford - away tickets

I was pointing out your failure to understand how random selection is fairer. Not surprised you missed it.
You just had another NSC user apart from me explain how they got placed successively at the back end of queues (happened to me as well in the past), and not surprised you are burying your head and ignoring all the actual experience of this "fairness"

I was working at 9am and couldn’t log on to try and buy a ticket until 11am.

I don’t think I deserve a ticket more than anyone else in Tier 2; I would just like the same chance of getting one.

Bring in a ballot window for everyone in each tier who wants one to apply and then do the random selection after a reasonable amount of time open e.g. 24 hours.

I once got murdered - MURDERED - on here when I dared suggest that 9am on a weekday isn't very convenient for some/many.

I had a few people criticise the idea earlier in this thread too.

The truth is, there is no ideal time to put them on sale as it will always inconvenience someone. The answer is to change to a fixed-time ballot window for occasions when demand will far exceed supply.

Seems madness that 'customers/supporters' are allowed to login to the site on multiple devices at the same time, and obtain different queue allocations, it should be synchronised to the account, if multiple device access attempts are made by an account then they should all receive the same queue allocation.

I logged in at approx. 08:40 looking to book 2 tickets we're in tier 2. If I remember correctly, I was allocated around 1109 in the queue when it opened, and sure enough received the it's sold out message, so no chance for us. Having been provided a queue allocation, and after reading the multiple device comments on here, I tried to see what happenings if I attempted to book on 2 other devices, each device obtained a different queue allocation.

Personally think the ticketing system is very good. I think Newcastle offer - or at least did - a point for every away game regardless of distance for instance. That's a proper closed shop. That said, like anything I think the system can be improved

- You should only be allowed to log on, on one account. FWIW, I logged on with 6 today (browsers and devices) and didn't get any tickets with 650 ish as my best entry point. As someone who works in IT that is easy enough to implement.

- It's been done to death but I think the points range for small allocations is too large. Other opinions are available on that one. Bottom line is that there will always be complaints when supply exceeds demand.

If PBOBE is reading :bigwave: and pinches the 'one account' idea, can I book 2 tickets for Brentford from any 'returns' please? 🙏:giggle:

And I thought is was only the BBC that repeated things this quickly.

Tried to think that through a bit……I guess the issue could then be seat allocation and timing. If you had a pre-sale commitment and ballot for T2 and below, when successful you’d either then need another window for those successful to go in and choose seats, or simply pre-allocate (and charge people - with no refunds allowed, ie success in the ballot means you have to take what you’re given). In the first case, we’d elongate the process and/or have people deciding they didn’t like what was available and not buying perhaps (messing up the ballot), and in the second people would be moaning about the seats they’d been given. Those wanting to go in the ballot could be able to do so at any point (including while T1 window is open) perhaps.

It’s probably workable, and doable from an IT/Admin perspective but won’t be free of issues/moaning.

The problem with a ballot is that everyone will stick their name down as why wouldn’t you? Then when someone that really doesn’t want to go gets offered the ticket they’ll reject it and the club will have to try the next person and so on until they eventually sell the tickets. That seems like a lot of effort on their part when atm they can just stick them on sale at 9am and that’s it.
I agree the queue should be limited to one per account but then people can still get around that as they can log in on friends and family accounts as you don’t need to have a set amount of points to be able to buy one for someone in you friends and family list. Would just encourage people to make a load of dummy accounts.

Not sure this is correct. Logging on with insufficient points leaves the ‘buy’ icon grey

Annoyingly the club are savvy enough to block monitoring software to allow me to be alerted to any page changes (specifically around the "sold out" button)...

Sorry if someone else suggested but the fairest way with away tickets is for the allocation to be a minimum of 2.5k tickets, regardless of the stadium capacity.
Small capacities are fine. But should not impact the away attendance.

This is unfair on clubs with small capacities though. Which ever way you cut this, someone loses out. I think the current system the EPL and the club have in place is the fairest.

Doubtless already been mentioned but the way England sort their away tickets works pretty well in my opinion. You apply into a ballot, the top 70% of cap holders/loyalty points that have applied get a guarantee ticket, the remaining 30% goes randomly across everyone else that has applied. It rewards loyalty as top cap holders still get priority but everyone still has a chance at a ticket. That being said, as with any system, there’s still moans about it.

I actually think the way the club have organised the loyalty point system is decent anyway but having experienced both the England system is SLIGHTLY better imo.

The biggest problem now is the possibility of Europe meaning those in the top tiers will continue to purchase away tickets when they might not have bother going - I think a fairer system for the final few games is to give ZERO points so its not as attractive for the high pointers to give lower tiers the chance
