Sorry but as sympathetic as the situation was, it's still wrong. You've lost any moral high ground on any criticism of 'sharp' practice by any other supporter!

If you’re referring to a post I made about point harvesting then the situation I’ve fessed up to and the scenario of buying tickets for a match one has no intention of attending is two completely different things.

If you and a close relative were in the same situation as me and you claim you wouldn’t do what I did, I’d quote Victor Meldrew.

An away ticket exchange is coming. I can’t remember which podcast it was on but about 3 months ago someone representing the ticket office stated this. They are waiting for a change to the software, and I think they need a certain % of all clubs to have the capability, but it’s coming.
I think it might have been when Paul Camillin was on the Albion Roar a little while ago.

I wouldn't and haven't and I'd say points harvesting is exactly what you did on behalf of your son. Like I said, you lost any moral high ground because when it suited you, you broke the rules.

This is only good news for those in tier 1, imo.

They can 'buy now, decide later' while those in lower tiers who missed out have to keep checking back, waiting for scraps (returns).

And many returns will be single, isolated seats.

Hardly isolated, you'll be amongst fellow Albion fans!!

Assuming 200 tickets have been held back - 382 points was enough to cover the top 1500 fans.
I assume you were in Tier 1 for Bournemouth, then that would be the top 1000.

DO you remember how many points clear of the Bournemouth threshold you were?
No idea my lad always gets tiks for me

There would have to be a penalty for returning a ticket. To list a ticket for a home match you’re charged a generous £1. For away games, make it £5. Even £10. Enough to deter most people who would buy with little intention of going.

I guess you could look at it that way, but everyone in tier 1 can already do that and just take a loss and leave the seat empty - we're talking £30 in most cases, and considerably less for concessions (of which we have plenty). All popular games go to tier 2 anyway and rarely beyond that. At least this way, it is possible for those in the relevant tiers to pick up a ticket that they may have missed out on. The reality is that those in tier 2 are often in a binfest for scraps anyway - see Brentford.

This is good for everyone imo even if there are some loopholes here and there. Nothing is perfect.

I disagree. This is good news because it allows the club to sanction those fans that buy away tickets then just don't go. OK they don't get the points but no one else does either and crucially there is an empty seat in the away end.
Once there is an away exchange then I hope that the club introduce a zero tolerance to the above scenario. Buy a ticket and just don't turn up = excluded from buying a ticket in the next away match window.
At the moment they can't do anything because there is no way to return the ticket.

Er... surely it's being brought it specifically to avoid non-attending fans being left out of pocket?!

Should be a limit on how many times you can do it as well, this situation has only come up three or four times since COVID, so there shouldn't be an option for everytime.
