There are reports that the entire f***ing policy might be from ChatGPT - some users have apparently been able to recreate it.

Your daily reminder that artificial intelligence is not “intelligent” at all.

Might have been missed in all the tariff-talk, but he lost a vote in the Senate yesterday...

Unfortunately I can’t see this as much more than a protest vote by the same few Republicans that have a record of voting against Trump.

The resolution to end tariffs against Canada still needs to go through the House (which has a 6 or 7 Republican majority) and then signed off by Trump which is very unlikely.

Guess this is what populist economics looks like? Apparently other countries that don’t already simply have to buy billions of dollars of US products, otherwise it’s not fair. Can’t wait to see his plans for producing goods in the US and then selling at the same price that currently imported goods go for..this is some top level ninja 4d maths stuff at play.

We’re done with Chicago School economics, now it’s time for the Dunning-Kruger school.

President Trump, are these tariffs in the room with us now?
A really amusing reaction would be if countries were to put their tariffs on US good to the exact percentage that Donald Trump said that they were on his magic chart. For example he's claimed the EU has 39% tariffs to justify 20% tariffs on EU goods entering the US, so the EU should just put their US tariffs at 39% as per his chart!

premarket US stocks trading like crytpo, many showing 10-20% drops. europe seems to have held up reasonable, 1-2% drop on the index. we'll read of the Tariff Thursday Crash in the textbooks.

saw comment highlighting even the US producers are hit because the tariffs apply to raw materials and components. if you could onshore your shoe making or pharmacuticals tomorrow, they'd still cost more with tariffs.

I wonder who's in a position to profit from these massive stock market falls? 🤔

Off topic:

On that note, I need to invest my daughters LISA into stocks and shares. That's a risky thing to do with Emperor Trump in power, so can anyone suggest a market that might be relatively safe from him? (I would just get a cash LISA, but the money is with a platform that don't do them).

I think the house would need to approve it, then trump would veto it, and then it goes back to the house and would need 2/3rds to vote against trump the second time around for it to happen. So it's not going to happen.

I'm assuming that this a long-term investment? I would be less inclined to worry about the short-term shitfest created by Trump if you're investing over several years.
