I think maybe there‘s an ambiguity around the word ‘ignorant’ - strictly speaking ‘ignorant’ or ‘ignorance’ is the lack of facts (as you say) as opposed to it being incorrectly used at times as an pejorative adjective describing a person’s attitude, their lack of metal acuity or a particular POV.
Anyone espousing racist ideology of doesn’t care that the ideology is based on the false premise that people of certain colour or race are inferior. So in that sense the ideology itself is an ignorant POV.

Now I'm not pretending that Dr's in the UK aren't occasionally bias in the brand of medication they prescribe.
