You've missed some points before point 1 and point 2 happened later after he was elected as Chancellor due to his rhetoric about Germans being punished for WWI. The USA only joined the war when Japan bombed Pearl Harbour - until then they were neutral. Britain and it's allies such as Canada, Australia and India won the war with late assistance from the USA and Russia.
"late assistance" from Russia???
The Russians killed about four times as many Germans on the eastern front compared to the number killed on the western front.

And raped millions of young girls to women.
The Russians did unspeakable things to the Germans, and many of their own.

At the same time, they broke the back of the Wehrmacht in 1942/3 and endured terrible suffering of their own in places like Leningrad/St. Petersburg and Stalingrad.

As they regained territory, they started to see the horror which the SS had been inflicting on the population. At the same time, they stood by as the Nazis crushed the Warsaw uprising.

Stalin’s regime was evil incarnate, but the West owes a lot to its sacrifices.

It is, as they say, complicated.

It may be that people have some concern for you when you do what is perfectly understandable to those of us who have some understanding of neurodiversity, but not to them.

@birthofanorange and @The Antikythera Mechanism are perfectly decent chaps

This has nothing to do with neurodiversity-diversity or people being concerned about me.

That is just another way to delegitimise my pov which is THIS:

I appreciate that people don’t understand that a Jewish perspective of the Holocaust and Nazi Germany is different to that held by Non-Jews. So for clarity, it is STILL a very painful part of our history, passed down from generation to generation and I and my family have lived with the direct impacts of it for four generations.

From a Jewish perspective, It diminishes the significance of the Holocaust to say we can even have a discussion about Nazi Germany whilst claiming not to be including references to the Holocaust and Persecution History. Even for most non-Jews, Hitler’s Nazi-Regime and his ”Final Solution” are synonymous.

Therefore, stating that America is “as bad as Nazi Germany” whilst claiming to be able to exclude the persecution of the Jews under that regime or the Holocaust in that equivalance, is a trivialisation of the conditions that culminated in the Holocaust and the Holocaust itself as the “Final Solution” to that. This is a valid point of view that s shared by many Jewish and non-Jewish political commentators- see the BBC story I posted above and the article in the EU Citizen Times.

This POV has nowt all to do with me ‘weaponising antisemitism’ to shut people up (or being neurodivergent!) - it is to do with my identity as a Jewish person and recognising that while what is going on in the States has elements of fascism and totalitarianism and we should indeed learn from all genocidal history - it is NOT as bad as 1933 Nazi Germany thank God as was claimed upthread

The Democratic Party is still a strong opposing force, there are still term limits and the Jan 6 attempt to overthrow democratic government was an abject failure.

And with that I bid you all peace and a good night 👍

You’re right but I think the reference to “late assistance “ was Russia not joining the war until 1941 having previously agreed a pact with Germany and carve up of Poland in 1939

This has nothing to do with neurodiversity-diversity or people being concerned about me so do stop projecting. That is inviting people to gaslight me.

I wasn’t being accused of weaponising antisemitism out of concern for me or being told to shut up or “get over myself” when explaining a painful family experience, out of ‘concern’. I don’t see things the way you do just because we are both on the spectrum.

Accusing me of weaponising antisemitism is just another way to delegitimise my pov and is way below the belt.

Your point is a good one and we understand where you are coming from. Your 'opponents' have also made and clarified their points, they are also sound and clear.

What needs to happen for you to draw a line under this?

I bear no animosity - as I said, I appreciate there are differences between Jewish and non-Jewish perspectives on Holocaust History and Nazi experience. NSC is very much a non-Jewish audience so I accept having a minority view here..

And with that I bid you all peace and a good night 👍

That meant end of discussion - your post and Harry’s just prolonged it. So again, I bid you all peace and good night.👍 🙂

Zeb, I don't think that anyone is trying to 'down play' the Holocaust or Nazi Germany.
I think it's being used as a 'reference point' of history to demonstrate how quickly things can turn to complete & utter shit when people sleepwalk into the belief of the propaganda.
Trump is spouting the propaganda, history suggests that people will believe it and be on 'his side', we don't have many things to compare Trumps actions to, aside from history.
You are right that there is no comparison to the horror inflicted through the Holocaust, but that is the only potential historical reference in the western world to portray views as to the way people feel things are heading now.
