What would be in your top 10 then?
In no particular order:-

Old Knucker
Old Peculiar
Tim Taylor's Landlord
Summer Lightning
Palmers IPA (can't believe someone else has mentioned that)
Red River
Ballards Nywood Gold
Entire Stout
Old Tumper
Hophead

Honourable mentions to my 'underaged' drinks.
HSB and Tanglefoot.

Bit lonely in there!! :bigwave:

For the record I find Harveys to be a bit hit and miss. Their Best does very little for me but that may be because I can walk in pretty much any pub within a 20 miles and they'll have it on. Plus it seems to be the bitter of choice for pubs that don't sell real ale as a rule of thumb. I'm sure in pubs that know how to keep beer it tastes allot better. However in places like that there will usually be something else on that is more appealing. Some of their seasonal beers are very good though. Bonfire Boy, Old and their Porter spring to mind.

As for Dark Star, they do some cracking drops. The APA isn't my favourite, but I was very pleased it won the gold medal at the beer festival. Hophead is a nice drop but I'm loving the Hylder Blonde at the moment. Last year they did Brown Ale which was amazing but I'm not sure if they are brewing it this year, haven't seen it anywhere.

Other favs of mine: Tim Taylor Landlord/Golden Best. Sam Smiths Porter. Sarah Hughes Ruby Mild. Fullers London Porter. Sharpes Doom Bar.

London Porter is a great ale as are the Harvey's seasonal ones. A properly kept and served Harvey's Best is still a personal favourite (although being Lewes raised, I'm biased). Also tried Harvey's Dark Mild yesterday which is nice session beer.

I'd go with all of your favourites except possibly the Sam Smith's.

I have never tried Harveys Dark Mild. It is highly rated. Alas I survive on Bottled versions of Harveys up here.

I like beer full stop. I like Harveys, some of the Dark Star stuff, Timothy Taylor's Landlord and loads and loads of others. Some's better than others and everybody's tastes are different. As my dad used to say when faced with a pint he didn't like: "This beer's awful; I'll be glad when I've had enough."

Not usually, I`m too busy!

"Excuse me bar person, I fear that the head of this pint of Blewitt`s Whistling Dixie is somewhat in excess of the approved half an inch!"

I agree its not something you can really argue over. You either like it or don't. I got into a discussion with a couple at a beer tasting over the merits of British Beer over Belgium. They were said they found British beer dull and could not compare to Belgium. First beer up and they raved about how great it was. Yes it was British
