I started having an issue with my Apple Pay yesterday, the card is being declined and I cannot understand why.

For the record I have
1) Spoken to my bank and they say there is nothing they can see which is wrong with the card. In fact, I can use the card….just not with Apple Pay.
2) Checked IOS is up to date.
3) Yes, phone has been turned on and off.
4) Card has been removed and re-installed.
5) I have switched two apps to PayPal, which is connected to my bank and not the offending credit card, both work fine.
6) Googled this issue, it’s a bit cannot-see-the-wood-for-the-trees. I could not find any suggestions beyond what I have tried.

Not sure what else I can do now.

I can survive with the PayPal option but would like to resolve this.

Can anyone help?

Are your bank seeing the transactions being attempted, or is the decline happening before they get to see them?

Just to clarify ...

It's a credit card that you've used previously with Apple Pay with no problems?

When you removed it and re-installed it ... you then went through the usual authorisation process with your bank?

Do you have other cards on Apple Pay which are working?

Hmmmm. I didn’t ask this specify question, neither did the chap offer this up. It was a short call and the guy simply said he’d looked at my card or account and said everything looked okay.

Yes. Literally was working up until yesterday, pretty much daily for a long long time.
When I removed and re-installed I got a confirmation SMS saying it was ready to use with Apple Pay.

Good point. I’ll try and attach another card and see if it works.

It's probably pretty key as it will help identify where the issue is. I'd expect the bank to tell you if they can see the transactions coming through and being declined.

That said you'd expect the guy to offer up that information as your card would not look "fine" if transactions were being declined.

Do you have any other cards on the phone you can try, just to figure out if it's a "your phone" issue, or not?

Definitely worth trying another card.

Maybe your bank are concerned about your offal consumption ;)

Should come up on your online banking as a refused transaction or in your apple wallet. Worth checking on that before flagging.

It may be that it is neither your fault, or the bank's, but the retailer had an issue in the moment.

Have you tried a different retailer to ensure its not a problem with the POS terminal where you were trying to spend?

I’m not able to add my only another credit card as I cannot verify it, due to being abroad. Grrrr

Thank you. I’ll call again.
