They might be now but they weren't established in the PL when we bought them. Unlike Delap, who has now scored double numbers and established himself.

He does not fit our model. Our model is not to sign established Premier League players who are going to want very high wages. There will be no Liam Delap or Tyler Dibling in Brighton.
£40m if he scored 20 goals £80m +

Looks like we goofed up then - what did they want for him?
Presumably, what Chelsea paid for him C£40m. However unlike a loan, a transfer to us would have meant us having to negotiate a salary. He's reportedly on £125k a year at Chelsea, so wouldn't have been coming here.

If that's all he wanted we'd have bitten his hand off!

Delap will end up somewhere paying double the wages we will offer.

He's not a Brighton signing and he's not coming here.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

Never say never. European football, PSR and João Pedros inability to play number 9 will all have some impact on ours, and other clubs need, appeal and ability to sign a player who has already put his career ahead of playing for a big club once already.

Palmer was never coming here. It was a total non-story. The rumour was a loan. Pep categorically refused loaning him out from the get go. There’s plenty of players every team would like to sign but it isn’t as simple as that.
And forget about Delap. Having huge choice of clubs means huge wages.

£30 million plus £125k a week could be an absolute bargain. Another 12 goal plus season in the PL and he will be worth double that. No reason why teh club shouldn't be thinking about it. Better than spunking £160k a week on an unproven (in the PL) loan player.
