I liked MaCallister's pens the most. Hard, accurate and generally into the roof of the net, giving the keeper next to no chance even if he goes the right way. Successful as they were, Hemed and JP's method of committing the keeper before rolling the ball in makes me nervous. I'm quite glad that JP has gone a bit more traditional in his recent pens.

I still don't understand how JP sends the keeper the wrong way such a high percentage of the time. It must be body shape as he's always looking at the ball as he hits it, so it can't be his eyes or seeing which way the keeper is moving before hitting it

I'm pretty sure Tomer watched the keeper throughout.

I think this is genuinely why England have been so unsuccessful at penalty shoot outs over the years.

The fact that brilliant penalty takers with a proven successful techniques make people nervous, where as someone just smashing it fills people with confidence.

I've tried working this out as well. Does he send the keeper the wrong way, or is he waiting for the keeper to move? Eze failed at doing the latter last week with an amusing result.

He's definitely not waiting for the keeper to move, because he's looking at the ball in the last moments before he hits it. It must be something he does before the final moments, maybe body position ? I'm fairly sure Hemed waited for the keeper, but it's definitely not part of JP's technique.

I don’t think Spanish Dave missed one? I’m not sure how many he took though.
5/5 I think.

Can we do goalkeepers? Stockdale surely the best in The Amex era, saved 4 out of 10. All 4 were significant in the outcome of the match as well if I remember correctly.

Bart probably the worst in a very long time out of our regular keepers. Even Sanchez saved one.

Found an article from 2023 on all time in Prem

Yaya Toure 11/11
LeTiss 25/26
Danny Murphy 17/18
IIRC the one Le Tiss save was Mark Crossley who had a great record at saving penalties. I believe he also spent a lot of time studying penalty takers so that he could read them.

Edit: he actually only saved 3 out of 43. Le Tiss, Lineker and Sheringham. So the second half of what I wrote is probably nonsense.
