Trying to be optimistic. I hope next season can be a special one like this season, at times, promised to be (yes, yes this is the same for every fan). TB thinks long term so I’m trying to too.
Our newish bunch of young players will have had a season of PL football as will Fab. We might be able to beat the relegation fodder at home (would have meant 8 more points this season). Then, looking at other teams:
City: any docked points will happen next season
Villa: might have some struggles financially (will cope with Emery though you’d suspect)
Chelsea: might have some struggles financially if they fail to reach CL
Forest: they might struggle to cope with their brand of football if also in Europe every week.
Bournemouth/Fulham/Palace: some of their managers might get poached
In some ways, it might be better if we’re not in Europe to really go for Europe. Spurs, Utd might improve though and Everton under Moyes might be pushing top half on current form. We’d also need to sign a decent full back and centre back too which might blow up the algorithm in terms of potential returns.
