RIP. He seemed like a good egg.

I think God must have read my Whatsapp to a friend yesterday which said he'd better not die when I go there as I won't get to see The Vatican. I feel bad for saying it now though! 🙁

He always struck me as a decent, humble person - an example a lot of leaders, religious and secular, would do well to follow.

RIP
Except he refused to move forward on the eg ordination of women, ordination of married men, abortion, contraception or same sex marriages instead paid lip service to such issues being resolved. He prayed for victims of sexual abuse but rebuffed the UN’s recommendations that the Vatican introduce mandatory reporting of suspected child abusers to law enforcement. It was argued the Vatican is a law unto itself basically.

He was a Jesuit and right wing conservative on Catholic doctrine.

But yes, championed the poor and the environment and probably one of the better leaders of the Catholic Church.

RIP

RIP. He was one of the better ones.

I think it is clear that meeting someone as ‘dark’ as J D Vance yesterday was too much for him.

First, Liz Truss finishes off Queen Elizabeth II and now Vance does for The Pope.

These are not coincidences people.

The liberal Filipino Cardinal Tagle favourite going into the Conclave.

Cardinal Turkson as the first Pope from the continent of Africa looks good value at 5/1.

I'm going LARGE on Paddy Power for this potential replacement. If it's good enough for Twitter it's good enough for me.

Pope JP2 died while I was there in 2005. The Vatican museum and st Peters opened as normal on the monday/Tuesday after. Closing on Tuesday evening for his body to be moved into St Peters through the square.

I was offered double my money back and a hotel room in Florence if was willing to give up my hotel room near the vatican

He was a Catholic, like or not Women’s ordination is not allowed in their faith. Islam is the same, yet we rarely see the left calling for women imams.

Deepest, darkest Sussex
Will they appoint a permanent successor now, or go for an interim Pope until the end of the season?
Give it Big Sam IMHO

Sometimes you have to go route one and focus on crosses

The Catholic ‘faith’ is Christian. Ordination of women is allowed in other Christian denominations.

The Catholic stance on women is to do with doctrines of the ‘man-made’ church and a strong patriarchal system of organised religion.

Appreciate as the Pope, there was a limit to what he could achieve within the existing framework of the doctrines of the Catholic Church.

As I said though, as Popes go, he was one of the better ones and I think the Catholic Church has lost a genuinely humble man who cared deeply for the poor and marginalised of this world..

If you're head of a religious organization I would stay away from VP JD (not goin to Ad)Vance.

My sincere condolences to those of the Catholic religion.

Detailed background checks for all the Cardinals eligible for becoming Pope.

If a Cardinal has the name Pope and is elected Pope by the Conclave will he be known as Pope Pope? Will he be a grandfatherly figure?

Is it time for a Black Hispanic Pope?
