They have a very odd fan base! (This outburst was in response to a Brighton fan suggesting his recommendation that Tottenham buy Van Hecke probably wasn't a goer)

Reading that Tweet/Twix/Whatever - so do we! I would still see Spurs as a 'step up' from us, maybe the youngsters who've only known us as a PL team think differently.

Ish. Certainly in terms of money/prestige - but without a new regime there Spurs aren’t going anywhere in the league

They have the Manchester United culture.

25 players knowing they don't have to do anything because the manager will get the blame in the end.

Its a loser club with loser culture and they will keep being somewhere in between "pretty good" and "awful" even once the current scapegoat is gone. Been the case with them for all my life and as long as Levy remains, they will remain a loser club no matter which manager they have.

Ah, the wonderful world of social media.

Marc has clearly already forgotten Bissouma.

While B...free trial? Free?! FREE?!! He hasn't noticed the third of a billion plus it's taken clubs like his to shift White, Trossard, Cucurella, Bissouma, Sanchez, Mac Allister and Caicedo out of the Albion.

Spurs are a much bigger draw for any player than we are, and I'd be suprised if any of our players wouldn't be very keen if they came calling and matched our transfer fee ask.

When Bissouma joined Spurs, they'd just finished fourth in the league and he was going to play in the CL. They didn't qualify for Europe in his first season, they qualified for Europa League the following season and won't qualify for Europe again this season. So, I'd say they are less of a draw than they were a few years ago.

I suspect someone like Van Hecke (who is the player in question) might not want to get tied down to Spurs - where he's unlikely to be challenging for trophies and would find it hard to move on - and would prefer the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal etc.

Financially, what Levy has achieved at Tottenham is staggering. The club were worth around £80 million when he and ENIC first came sniffing in the late 90s, but Forbes set their valuation at £2.6 billion in May 2024, of which the Levy share is c. 26%

He has created and financed a brand new state of the art stadium and training ground, he has struck commercial deals worth many millions, including the deal with the NFL. He is a proven commercial winner, but has singularly failed on the field.

I disagree that they are a loser club with a loser culture - you don't get to compete in Europe as consistently as they've done in 21st century - but it looks like they will miss out on Europe for the second time in three seasons and that hasn't happened for ages.

I think Levy has taken the club as far as he can and I cannot see the club continuing to appreciate in value like it has without some onfield success.
