Spurs are a much bigger draw for any player than we are, and I'd be suprised if any of our players wouldn't be very keen if they came calling and matched our transfer fee ask.
They pay more so yes plenty would be interested... because of that, and only that.

It is Tottenham ffs. If you go around the world, you'll see kids in Liverpool shirts, Arsenal shirts, Barca, United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG, Juve... hell, you could even find some kids wearing City stuff!

Spurs? No one wants to play for Spurs. Its a club where you go if you're not quite good enough for a club that win things.

As with lots of our players this summer, whether we can fend off bids, or even persuade them to sign a new contract will hugely depend on whether we're in European competition, and if so, which one.

Financially, what Levy has achieved at Tottenham is staggering. The club were worth around £80 million when he and ENIC first came sniffing in the late 90s, but Forbes set their valuation at £2.6 billion in May 2024, of which the Levy share is c. 26%

He has created and financed a brand new state of the art stadium and training ground, he has struck commercial deals worth many millions, including the deal with the NFL. He is a proven commercial winner, but has singularly failed on the field.

I disagree that they are a loser club with a loser culture - you don't get to compete in Europe as consistently as they've done in 21st century - but it looks like they will miss out on Europe for the second time in three seasons and that hasn't happened for ages.

I think Levy has taken the club as far as he can and I cannot see the club continuing to appreciate in value like it has without some onfield success.
Absolutely this. At the weekend, I was talking to a 'relative' who is Tottenham through and through and he was saying the same.

And therein lies the reason I feel quite safe.

When Bissouma joined Spurs, they'd just finished fourth in the league and he was going to play in the CL. They didn't qualify for Europe in his first season, they qualified for Europa League the following season and won't qualify for Europe again this season. So, I'd say they are less of a draw than they were a few years ago.

I suspect someone like Van Hecke (who is the player in question) might not want to get tied down to Spurs - where he's unlikely to be challenging for trophies and would find it hard to move on - and would prefer the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal etc.
I agree fully with your first paragraph. Second one I'm slightly less convinced by but I can certainly see the validity of the argument and he'd be nuts to prefer spurs over either Liverpool or Arsenal.

Neither of those things were what marc said though.

Article in the Guardian saying that Bournemouth are in talks over a new contract with Iraola: https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ks-with-iraola-to-ward-off-tottenham-interest

Foley - Thanks for meeting me Andoni. We've been very pleased with results and performances this season and would like to speak to you about signing a new contract.

Iraola - That's very flattering and I've been happy here, but my agent has indicated that there may be interest from other clubs.

Foley - Yes, we have heard that Tottenham are interested in offering you a job.

Iraola (Grabbing contract and pen) - Quick Bill, where do I sign?
