I know we might still reach Europe by finishing 8th, but I really don't think we will.

As such, I can't remember buying tickets for a game as underwhelming as this one. Is anyone actually looking forward to going? It's going to be an absolute object lesson from West Ham on how to keep the ball without looking remotely threatening, while we will convey a mix of huff and puff and not giving a toss. There might be a goal, but it'll be from a West Ham set piece.

It is a game encapsulated perfectly by the rise and fall of Evan Ferguson. All excitement now dissipated and given way to a reality of banal ordinariness.

And to compound matters, Palace are at Wembley and will be on all the screens at 515 and Villa are bound to not turn up.

It has all the hall marks of a truly shit day out at the football.

Yes, I realise I'm not a bundle of joy this morning. Sorry everyone.

This is EXACTLY why we are going to win this game. And then have a good finish to the season.

Would it be fair to say that the first two posts of this thread are the Ying and Yang of Albion fan’s expectations?

Me, I can see it going either way suggested and neither would surprise me. Doncha love being an Albion fan?

We NEED a win today though….

Erm yep, i am looking forward to it. The typical optimism that creeps the day before and leading up to game on the day. I hope that this time, we feel better after the match than the last few and the team actually perform. They still have something to play for after all. It's a must win.

Football is often the shittest part of the day. Few beers with friends/family, good chat. Sit through a dull 1-1 draw, then have more beers with friends/family. People who go to Brighton matches expecting it to lift their mood are at the wrong place.

I must admit that I'm already telling myself "it's only a game" and to not let today's result ruin the week ahead and affect how miserable I am around friends and family when we don't win.
I know we're not being relegated, I've accepted we're unlikely to grab a European spot, and I know that once this season is over that we have a good platform to build on for next season.
I'm viewing any points we gain from the next five games as a bonus.

I will enjoy my visit today to The Amex.

Thank you Tony for all you have done for us, you really do deserve better.

That's exactly what I am expecting.
(With added sprinkles of petty Potter hate)
It would be terrific if instead we take an early lead and stroll through,
on the back of some hearty Potter mockery.

I will be listening attentively on the radio.

Maybe it will be the game that gets our season back on track.

I will be following on my phone while I am at a party. Maybe even watching on my phone if the party is a bit dull (it won't be).

Boring, it's going to be a tactical masterpiece played at a tri-dimensional chess level.
So that anyone with s logical brain on the level of Spock will have a great afternoon.

.....0-0 it is.

Nobody goes "expecting" their mood to be lifted. Only hoping.

Today I am expecting to leave hope at the front door when I leave. It'll be shite.

A day out at football, only ruined by the actual 90 mins of football - Jonny Vaughan i think.
