C'mon man, we were all cheering Archie Gemmill...Scotland's 1986 Player Of The Year![]()
I wish I had been watching in 1978 when Scotland won the World Cup. I've got the postage stamps though.Scotland's 1986 Player Of The Year![]()
Shouldn't there be an apostrophe somewhere in the name, or have I forgotten all the English grammar I wasn't taught in the first place.Okay, I have given it 30 years or so of grace, in the vain hope that someone would correct this error.
But I still find it irritating in the extreme. To be fair for most of those 30 years, it hasn't really affected me that much, but as we edge ever closer to the possibility that we might compete in it I feel I need to speak out.
Who is with me on this?
Are there any other inexplicable decisions that you still struggle with after a long period of time?
This. It was never called The Withdean at the time. It was always, correctly, called Withdean. If you call it The Withdean then you probably weren't thereThe Withdean bothers me more than it should.
Withdean Stadium when we played there or shortened to Withdean. Many of us that went to school in Brighton also did our sports day there and it was always called Withdean Stadium.
Can’t say I remember anyone calling it The Withdean until recently when the Albion are mentioned playing there.
It’s official now know as Withdean Sports Complex
Do you mean The Withdean Sports Complex? The Withdean bothers me more than it should.

Isn’t it named after The World newspaper? They sponsored it originally, or something like that.Baseball World Series, only US clubs.
"Coupe des Clubs Champions Européens" is what is engraved on the cup itself. Europeans Champions Clubs' CupIt was always the plain old European Cup when I was a lad.
Anyone know what it was called in other countries?
Is that right? Even when we called it the European Cup?"Coupe des Clubs Champions Européens" is what is engraved on the cup itself. Europeans Champions Clubs' Cup

We should have just gone the whole hog and called it the Johnny Foreigner Trophy
