I get it was semi serious, but considering some of the shit tips I’ve watched football in, I’d never consider wanting to watch it on TV over watching it live in person.

42 years is a long wait for another domestic final. Semis and quarters coming round regularly now. I want it so badly. Not for me the..." always next year " mantra. I am in the late Autumn of life. There aren't those years left. We have to do it soon. While we are comfortable in the PL. I want to enjoy it with my sons..my friends. I want to bask in it. I want to drink it in. You are of course correct, nothing beats going to a game in person, especially away for some reason.
I loved traipsing around the country in the 80s, 90s and early 00s, running for trains, running from away away fans, the different places far and wide, the different people, pubs and even food, and the general buzz of representing your club.

I have not travelled away since we had a sprog, back in 2009 and I have tried this season to get away tickets to games in London, but despite being a season ticket holder have had no success due to lack of points. Now the sprog is older and doing her own stuff I will get my act together and try a bit harder to get back out on the road, I was lucky enough to go to Selhurst several times back in the day including the glorious 1-0 win. Nothing compares to that feeling, absolutely nothing, not even the birth of my daughter

I have a ticket for the beam back, and to be honest not really looking forward to it and I am conscious our club is becoming more and more corporate the longer we are staying in the Premier League, do I turn my back on the club I have followed through troubled times, that brought me joy and despair in equal measure, nah I can't do it, I might not like it, but I have to take it for what it is. Our club is changing and possibly beyond all recognition of what it was. So I will go and see what it is like, it is the next best thing for me, seeing as I cannot get a ticket to go. If I find it is not for me, I will simply go home, I don't mind even if it half way through the game.

Go enjoy your time at Selhurst, let's hope we win that is the main thing, not where we watch it.

Appreciate that the game is not on TV, but it's strange how clubs often talk about how much money football brings into the local economy and yet they are now building these monster Box Parks to encourage people not to spend money in the local pubs in town.

I also appreciate that it spreads the capacity and reduces the pinch points, but it's an oddity.

For example, would the club object if an independent business (Say Brighton University) put in a planning application to build a Box Park Albion themed style bar on the university grounds, or one down by the school? I wonder if they might object that this was competing with their revenue stream.

And, for example, one of the things I miss about football is those independent pin badge sellers you see at some football grounds. There always used to be guys with cork boards full of badges from clubs all around the world.

And I love the smell of those greasy burger and hot dog vans as you approach the ground. It's all part of the atmosphere of football. All clinically cleaned away by the unimaginative commercial and marketing teams.
