WA is paid to give his opinions - and he usually, IMHO, seems to know what he's talking about. We paid a lot of money for Minteh, and he hasn't really developed much this season - in recent weeks indeed he seems to have gone back from where he was when he first replaced Adingra.
…but then in recent weeks most have the players havnt hit the standards we’ve come to expect…hence poor results

2 England youth caps, signed by both Howard Kendall and Graham Taylor for Everton and Villa respectively, he played 477 games in the all four divisions of the FL, nearly half of those appearances in the top two leagues, but by his own admission he ‘f***ed’ his career with his extra curricular activities, if anyone is in a position to warn young players about the pitfalls it’s him.
Is that what he’s been doing?

I’ve not listened to WA for ages but heard him speak at a supporters club thing this season and thought he revelled in singling out players for unfair criticism.

You think he’s down on Minteh. Ask him his opinion on Enciso and Pedro…
He’s had plenty to say on Encesay in the past

Jonny Cantor is excellent. WA talks jibberish and is a dinosaur IMO.

About time he was replaced.
I disagree. I’d be really disappointed if WA was replaced, love the man.

He genuinely knows what he’s talking about and is a fully converted Albion fan. He might not always be the most articulate communicator but he’s as passionate about the club as any of us and sometimes his frustration comes out on the airways.

He sounded pretty exasperated with our play yesterday

I think FH has used Minteh too much. He’s relied on his pace and tracking back and yet I think Solly should have been used more over the past month. There’s a good player in there re Minteh but he’s very young and needs to learn.
Sometimes WA is harsh with his criticism but he’s usually right.

Aspinall out!

I listen quite often to the Radio Sussex commentary .
Yesterday I thought Warren Aspinall’s continual criticism of Yankubah Minteh was disgusting. Yes I agree he is a very frustrating player to watch but the way he’s singled out for criticism by Aspinall in nearly every game is uncalled for and I think he should be told about it.
You sensitive soul.

Solly himself said yesterday, in his post-match interview, that he isn't able to start and that the amount of training and the intensity of that training, is below where he wants it to be.

From that, I think it's pretty clear his game time is being carefully managed in line with what he is currently able to do.

It's a shame, obviously, because as you intimate, we've seen some great cameos from Solly recently.

Amusingly on yesterday's post-match chat, Aspinall had a "if you're fit enough to be on the bench, you're fit enough to start" rant. They then went to Johnny Cantor who interviewed Solly where, as above, he revealed he wasn't fit enough to start.

When they went back to Aspinall, he all but apologised and said he wouldn't mention that again!

Unfortunately WA is ill informed and over opinionated. Post match stated that either Solly is fit for whole game of not at all and "so called Guru's "(his inevitably mispronounced this word) in fitness were wrong to say he only has 30 minutes in him. If you start from this position of ignorance there is nowhere to go. Seems like a decent passionate bloke but is just in the wrong here. Give me a medical practitioner's advice over WA all day. Unfortunately his start position then means he can critique FH TB and anyone close to the club. He stated that injuries aren't an issue because we had Adingra, Gruda, Gomez, Ayari and Solly on the bench - they all play the same two position!! No Full backs not a right back available etc - he's dated at best

I think he‘s saying exactly the same as what Sir Norman Gall and Johnny Byrne would have done in a similar situation.

He's played at the highest level, has an 86/87 Championship medal with Everton, he’s an expert and that’s what the Beeb are paying him for.
Paul Merson has a couple of old first division titles, fa cup and European trophy (Wikipedia is a wonderful thing) but is an absolute disaster as a pundit so not sure what your point is. Minteh has played more games for us that Aspinall did for Everton which were as sub. That is an observation and not a criticism.

Saying that I don’t mind Aspinall but he at times sound very negative without being constructive.

Interesting from WA yesterday. Called out Baleba for not covering the CB’s when Wiefffer attacked. I like that, he didn’t fall into the fans trap of protecting a deity.
I've been saying this all season. He's a fantastic player, but he's miles off Caicedo levels (when he was here). He's still lacking in discipline and loses concentration far too often, but he's a kid and still very much developing. He has the potential to be amazing but he isn't there consistently yet.

I don't think it's noted enough that yesterday our midfield was Baleba (21, just) and Hinshelwood (20) with Ayari coming on (21).

Similar with Minteh, he's 20 and for various reasons has had to play a far bigger role than probably he's ready to.

That said, patience levels are wearing thin so these things are usually ruled out as excuses rather than simply an explanation of how inexperience still plays a big part.

TBH @Bexhill gull i share his frustration….

He’s a young player with a lot to learn, a lot of NSCers were going completely over the top on the Minteh thread in terms of current ability.

He has a long way to go IMO.
Yes a lot to learn, but the guy isn't even 21 yet, and until he signed for the Albion last summer, he hadn't even graced the field in the Premier League.

He needs, and deserves, to be given more time.
