Yep he's often been excellent in his Albion career, got injured, then taken 5 or 6 games to get back up to speed. Which is a real shame as there is a top quality CB in there when pulling at full tilt.

I'd argue his recent form is way better & astonishingly error free, compared with anything previous. That injury was absolutely gutting

If Adam Lallana, & Milner have warranted contract extensions because of their impact in the Dressing room, then Webby should be getting a new 5 year deal.

Not unless we have at least two pacy CBs lined up and ready to sign. Letting him go without guaranteed first choice replacements would be madness, even if he only plays 1/3rd of the games next season

If it's a choice of keep him for another season and he goes on a free or sell now for ~£10m then I'd gamble and keep him, but it's not my money. If Dunk were not showing signs of rapid decline then that might be different but he is. I think we need some continuity, we can't wholesale change all the CBs in one summer. I'd like to see JPvH stay and Webster be his regular partner but realistically Webster isn't going to remain injury free. I'd loan Cashin (perhaps to a promoted club), keep Igor, Dunk becomes a squad player for 1 season and bring in a new mobile, quick, CB. (I'd still love Colwill back here).

Even if he's only used to come on for the last 15 minutes of games where we need to organise the defence, he'll be worth every penny.
What I would give to have had him on the field for the games against Leicester/Wolves/Palace this season....

Hmmm a difficult decision to be made if there is genuine interest in him. Before this latest injury he looked great, definitely a player we'd want to keep. But with only a year left on his contract, him so far being injured for 16 out of 33 games, and the fact we may want to free up centre back space in the squad for new arrivals, I could see why we might be tempted if £10m+ was offered. I wouldn't want us to lose a consistently fit Adam Webster, but that may not exist.

What none of these pieces of clickbait mentions - and you'd think it was rather important - is that Potter made the club signing Webster a condition of his coming to us from Swansea. So there might be more in the story than usual, but as the writers didn't seem to know this ...
The Sun were the first to report on it during the January transfer window. And The Athletic ran a piece in February saying "Anderlecht attacking midfielder Mario Stroeykens is on West Ham’s radar. So too is Brighton & Hove Albion central defender Adam Webster, who previously worked under Potter."

Didn't think much about this when I read it yesterday and when I mentioned the rumour to a West Ham supporting friend, he said he knew nothing about Webster, but would be happy to swap Mavropanos for me!
However, just looked into Mavropanos and, although this year with West Ham has been difficult, he is an experienced Greek international, who Moyes thought good enough to play through their Europa League campaign last year. He was loaned from Arsenal to Nuremberg, the team we have signed Tzimas from. He's subsequently had a couple of seasons with Stuttgart so presumably speaks German as well as Greek and may be seen as a currently undervalued, experienced head who could help the new striker settle in. Probably still BS, but sounds like the sort of thing we might consider.

The defence needs an overhaul. It needs pace and it needs players who can stay fit. Unfortunately both Webster and Lamptey ( and for the record, I'm a big fan of both) cannot be relied on to do that. Webster may yet be offered a year's extension but IF he has an opportunity for a three year deal at West Ham or another club who will give him a pay rise, that's going to be a very tempting offer.
Said it when we were loaning Ferguson, it will repeat it again and again, we shouldn’t be doing any transfer dealings with any club managed by Potter
