What are your expectations for us as a football club ?

Is getting into Europe every season the absolute minimum we should be achieving?

And if we don’t make it do you think the season has been a failure and we should sack the manager each time ?

*mods please edit title - fat fingers 🤣

No.

I’d like us to be an established top 10 club every season, fighting with a chance to get into Europe most of those seasons hopefully. But more important than that to me personally is I want to be entertained and impressed by the football we play, maximising the talents of our players.

We were generally worse off under Potter, points and league position wise to this season but I enjoyed watching us a lot more then as we had a great style of play that you could see was progressing and we were building something that we saw a brilliant culmination of at the end of 2021/2022 and during 2022/2023. I don’t see entertainment or progression this season.

To be entertained and not to see the same flaws in defence regardless of who we are playing every single game. Players going back to looking like they enjoy playing and playing for each other. Be nice to occasionally dominate a game and look in control for most of it and not always concede a breakaway goal. It’s the manner of our recent performances that is a worry to me currently.

The trajectory of the club overall though is the stuff of dreams.

Playing good football that’s enjoyable to watch.

All teams get bad results and have bad patches etc so individual results or seasons points matter less to me. Those depend on your strength but also a lot on the strength of teams around you, points and league position isn’t just about your own team really.

Most teams, regardless of the divison they are in or resources, have the capacity to play an entertaining game if they try.

Think maybe this might be a generational thing, as an old git watching since 1963, I don’t expect much, just enjoy a community local club to support. Think after Hereford, I said to myself, just having a club to support is enough. Naturally expectations changes as we get higher and better, but I don’t expect much apart from going to games with friends, a couple of beers and a good time. Some games and days are better than others, but would still support the club and have a season ticket even in a lower league. Would love to win something but not an expectation, it’s a nice bonus. I understand others want more and I can understand that.

Most of this.

I don’t need to be entertained even, I just need to see some sort of structure rather than what seems at times blindly chasing the ball and then look good when we actually have it, and defensively look like we know what we’re doing (just for @Flounce).

Probably a combination of RdZ and Potter.

Currently, injuries or not, this is not good football in any sense. We were lucky to score two yesterday.

Looking at the Albion and our competitors, success for us is being an established top flight team, with the chance of a cup win or a place in Europe. Yes, it's been frustrating this season, but over the long term this is as good as it gets.

My expectation is we have a structured way of playing, which, i don't know what it is after 33 games so far. I also expect an established premier league team with experienced players to manage a game out when leading or, failing that, learn from mistakes which hasn't happened much this season!

Same here. I also hope to see players improving as it’s fundamental to the club’s ability to finance a competitive squad.

A combination of RDZ and Potter would be nirvana!

We do need to remember that your last sentence could very well be true, it is possible that our best days in terms of results and style of football, could be behind us

I confess to not expecting us to win a cup of any description in my lifetime too. It’s often fun getting close though.

Depends which bits of each you get - e.g. throwing the toys out the pram while sucking their teeth. :ROFLMAO:
As long as the defence is solid the attack exhilarating and it’s RDZ knee slides and mental running up and down the touchline when we score I can take both! Now that is a process that I could buy into

Sean Dyche might not have a lot of admirers in football, but his quote “the minimum requirement is maximum effort”* always resonates with me.
