Play attractive football, and not be in relegation battles, essentially what TB has been aiming for and how we have been for the last 4 seasons, Cups, Europe are potential cherries on top. That said I am 60, I might have 20 maybe 30 years left, please can we manage 1 FA Cup win in that time, for me, growing up the FA cup was the absolute pinacle, I know it has lost its shine, but how good would a final against Palace be with us raising the Cup. Changing the subject somewhat they f***ed that part up by getting rid of the stairs, whoever made the final decision to get rid of one of the most iconic moments in sport needs their head/heads read.

To continue to progress as a football club.

If we were 10th and had an FA Cup QF after the first couple of Hughton seasons and the Covid season people on here would be raving.

But on the back of last 16 of Europa League, having played some great football and spent what we did in the summer then this season feels a little disappointing.

Of course progress isn’t linear, especially in table terms. So then you look at style of football, progression of players, avoidable errors and injuries. And in all four we’re going alarmingly backwards.

We do need to remember that your last sentence could very well be true, it is possible that our best days in terms of results and style of football, could be behind us

I confess to not expecting us to win a cup of any description in my lifetime too. It’s often fun getting close though.
I’m going to humbly disagree about winning stuff. In our long history we have failed to win any cup of note. Not even a Mickey Mouse. Of all the teams of similar size we must be alone in this respect. Fans entrenched belief that this is as good as it gets puzzled me and is part of the problem IMO. We need to get rid of our losers mentality around the club, including in the stands.

Everything can turn in a matter of weeks, as SBTS rang out at 5.12pm on Saturday 29th March, like many others I firmly believed this was our year and we were going to win the FA Cup.

It can’t be all down to the manager, Welbeck alluded to the fact he felt some players were playing for themselves rather than the club, but the bottom line is TB wants a return on his investment, the minimum for that return has to be top 10, but at the 83 Reunion dinner in 2023 he promised a trophy ’very soon’, I honestly thought FH might be the man to deliver, but if it’s not him, do we go tried, tested, but also expensive or go left field with another punt?

Supplementary question and apologies if fixtures, has Pedro ‘checked out’ already?

We’re nailed on to win a trophy for ‘Best Sports Documentary Film’, so at least we have that to look forward to.

top half and competitive for the next level, and players that look like they want to be there. happily forgive the stray passes or wayward shot if they are trying to make something happen.

We were told Bloom's ambition was to consistently be a top 10 Premier League club.

For me, over the course of 5 seasons that would be 3 seasons in 8th - 10th, allowing for one transition season in 10th - 13th and one season where the stars align and we finish 5th - 6th. I really can't believe there are actually Brighton fans that would be unhappy with that, and that is pretty much exactly what we are achieving.

I understand individual results and winless runs are frustrating, but I just don't get the clamour to sack a manager who is learning his trade and is more or less achieving our aims. I keep reading about how he is 'uninspiring and robotic'. Well for me, that is far better than someone who moans about everything, blames poor form on injuries, publicly complains about the owner's transfer policies, or throws a hissy fit when some fans dare to boo a crap performance. I know which one of the last three managers I'd prefer to manage if I were Bloom / Barber.

A large proportion of our fans just seem utterly incapable of playing / understanding the long game.

Here we go again, long term, processes and projects…when are people going to understand it just doesn’t exist in football. It’s all change pretty much every season. You can rarely plan for the next five matches never mind five years. All about the moment, each season on its own merit pretty much. If we do well, staff are poached. If we don’t, staff are shipped out or sacked. And it seems “a large proportion of our fans just seem utterly incapable…of understanding” this!
