In my own strange world
"Agent Josephine..American beauty, French Hero and British spy" by Damien Lewis...it's about Josephine Baker who moved from America to France and became a very famous and much celebrated Nightclub singer and dancer during the 1930's and how she was determined to fight back against the Nazis during WW2 following their invasion of France and atrocities committed. A great read, learning a whole new angle on the second world war, thoroughly recommend it.

Eugenie Grandet - Balzac. I've only just got around to reading Balzac, a loss on my part as he's one of the great writers. A friend of mine was giving a talk on him at a French group, so I thought I'd listen and learn something (by coincidence, the previous week's talk was on Josephine Baker - see a few posts above)
