Having watched Russia's dearth of tanks in the Jake Broe video above, now consider this account from the German military, saying Russia is storing 1500 tanks in warehouses, in preparation for an attack on Nato in the coming years.

Is Russia doing a pivot? Is it changing its focus from the Ukraine war and preparing an attack on a softer target?

Agreed...but WOULD it be NATO? Personally I think it would be a European Coalition of the Willing, because Trump would NOT allow US involvement even if article 5 triggered. That's my belief from the past few weeks, sadly of course.
Quite, we can forget any US involvement other than Pro Putin bluster if Russia fucks around on the Finnish border. Unless of course Finland has some minerals….

Need intel on where these warehouses are and give Ukraine the coordinates.

not really, it's about military people presenting a scenario to prepare politicans to pay for more kit and manpower. Russia is not going from obsolete tanks and unmaintained armoured vehicles, borrowing North Korean artillery to replace lost material, to having a rebuilt, modern, functional army to invade anyone else anytime soon.

I agree that Russia is currently very weak. But we are talking about Putin here. Any amount of rational thought does not necessarily apply. There is no guarantee he won't try again, with or without a rebuilt, modern functional army. The evidence lies throughout the three year history of this thread, which I don't intend to repeat. Except to say, that he is building a military compound 20 miles from the Finnish border right now.

All things considered, I would prefer to trust The Inspector General of the German Armed Forces, rather than try to rationalise what is going on in Putin's head.

Beware of the dangers of wishful thinking.

I think I'd be quite happy if they did that, multiple fronts and taking on the might of NATO when they're already financially weak and stretched.

That's 1500 per year, according to the speaker. Ok, some at least will go to the Ukrainian front but it sounds like the majority are going into storage - I hope Germany has a good fix on the coordinates of those warehouses, before the tanks are brought out for "it's only maneuvers...".
It's interesting to me that the German military is making this announcement, rather than NATO. I truly believe Germany has woken up - when Merz is in place it'll be interesting to see what he can get through the parliament (e.g. Taurus) .

I'm not sure the land wars of the future are going to be tank based, no military expert at all, but seems Drones, artillery with counter battery and light highly manouvreable vehicles will be the future, which is primarily where the current war is at.

Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia look the primary candidates for any attack, maybe Finland too? but the baltic nations are mining their border areas, and I've no doubt, will be learning from Ukraine and investing in similar drone capabilites that can take out highly immobile tanks.

That's a good point. I've recently read so many links spelling out that the future of warfare is now drone based...then I get distracted by a report of Russia increasing tank production 🤦🏼‍♂️.

I didn't realise the Baltics are mining their border areas; a good investment.

You have to remember Russia still thinks wars are fought with straight line frontal attacks.

Sad news for fans of Pete Hegseth. The White House is reported as looking for a new Secretary of Defence.

For background, the Pentagon is a hotbed of leaks - see the Jake Broe video from 09:48 onwards (post 25,720)

I'm available, in the unlikely event that I'm overlooked by the Vatican.
