How has this been during the week does anyone know? I know it won't be representative of Saturday of course. Just heading over from Hampshire as usual, and there isn't an obvious alternate route in my eyes.

I was caught in it once, not good. People are doing anything en masse to avoid it eg record amounts of traffic using Mill Road I noticed.

I have had to drive and return Seaford to Bognor 3 times this week. Tried all the alternative routes but I have been resigned to add at least 20 minutes or more to my journey east or west. Good luck on Saturday

They will be taking out the central barrier to do the drainage works, so are closing off the outside lane on both carriageways to ensure the safety of workers
If we lived in a well managed/engineered country . . . They'd do that in stretches over night. . . . . There would be no lane closures between 6 am and 10pm.

if it was Belgium they'd just get on with it regardless. . . .with a scarecrow/dummy with a mechanical waving arm.

There’s a real belt n braces UK thing. Whether it be police investigating a serious injury car crash so closing a major road for hours on end or building new roads or railways, we do it more thoroughly and at far greater cost than anyone else. For better or worse?

Don’t know if it was always this way in the UK.

We're hideously innneficient. . . . Everything is governed by risk assessments and safety legislation, which is totally over the top in most ( certainly not all) cases. I have to work through it daily.

I was once told, and I have no way to verify this, but in France, if there is a bad accident on a Motorway, it can only be closed for 1 hour maximum.

I thought this was only for a week or two, v sad to hear its rest of the season now. I am 3 hours away in the Midlands and got a space at The Bridge before knowing, how much extra time should I allow? 1 hour? 2?

I think they are doing it overnight, but because the central reservation barrier has been removed it’s unsafe to travel at speed during the day, regardless.

For the Villa match, coming down A23 about 5pm was 10-15 mins delay. Once you get on A27 you join in the single lane so not too bad at all. My sons came from the West and the A27 was backed up past Devils Dyke junction.

This was a Wednesday though not a Saturday.

If the last mid week game was anything to go by coming form A23 we actually ended up getting to the coach park 5 minutes earlier than normal

But at a guess, Saturday 3pm with the sun out I’d say allow +30mins at the 23/27 junction.

Our coach isn’t leaving any earlier from
Burgess Hill and we aim to be there 1 hour before normally

Are you able to stay in town for the weekend and have a go at leaving the Bridge some time during the night on Sunday/Morning morning?

Anyone know if the park and ride buses are using the A27 tomorrow or going alternate routes?

The Mill Road buses used the A27 a week ago Wednesday and added about 40 mins to the journey (but it was only restricted Eastbound) and I would guess will do the same tomorrow. Just been told Race Hill is closed.

I’ve posted on the other thread but if you can get to the Marina early there’s a P&R there.

If you can leave now the A27 isn’t too bad

Yourself, and I'm sure every other NSCer who are probably on tenterhooks regarding my travel plans tomorrow can now relax. My nephew will train in and I will walk to Mill Road P&R earlier than normal to allow for the A27 farce. After the game, we can stay for a few beers, Albion having put a good number past Leicester, (which even my Leicester born and bred mate wants if it gets rid of horse face) and my nephew not having to drive.

By the time we have analysed the game and talked bollocks over a few pints I suspect that getting a Mill Road P&R bus will be a piece of piss.

So without further adieu, back to the Fridat thread
