The arse end of Hangleton
We lack leaders. No leadership coming from manager or captain.
Yes and no. Fab seems to lack leadership and Dunk is all at sea when he plays and is of course captain by default. We seem to have much better on pitch leadership when Welbeck is captain.

If you've got a team full of young players it will always look like you don't have leaders. We have very good ones, but they can't stop the keeper giving the ball away, or your forward getting sent off.

The truth is we're just young and with that will come a high degree of inconsistency. Injury has prevented us rotating out players when they are out of form or not in the right headspace

This is where we’ve missed Milner this season. Not to start every game but to give leadership on the pitch in a vital area.
And much much better when Webster is captain. The kids are probably terrified of him even though he seems a thoroughly nice chap. He cajoles and scowls and bollocks and points and inspires.
It should be our number one priority to find another leader this summer. Don’t care where they play, as long as they are likely to start. Someone with experience and respect and heart.

Are you saying that Dunky isn't a good captian? a good leader?

I disagree. Yes his form has dropped right off for whatever reason, but that hasn't stopped him from leading and motivating the team.
Dunk is a captain who leads by example. That’s his leadership style.
So at the moment he clearly isn’t a good captain.

To the BBC website: "We made our bed and we have to lie in it. It's not good enough," said Welbeck. "There have been so many of these performances throughout the season. We need to play far more collectively. Fight for each other more. It was evident that we weren't doing that."

When one of the leaders in the dressing room says that publicly, knowing the impact it will have, it's pretty clear that there are problems. It sounds like there needs to be a players' meeting with some plain speaking from the senior players.
Yes I agree and when the outstanding player of the season, a club legend of word class ability says this you have to listen and take note. I have had people say to me has Fab lost the dressing room? but this puts a new perspective on things. The post match radio interview Solly gave also suggested he was available to play from the start not come on as a sub. Has the strength and conditioning coaching taken over team selection?

Bit harsh on a player that's served the club exceptionally well HOWEVER for me Welbeck is the REAL leader and I would personally make him captain. He is indeed one the greatest players EVER to pull on an Albion shirt.

Yes that’s exactly what I’m saying, he isn’t a great captain, never has been. He assumed the position by seniority and his performances on the pitch but he isn’t a natural leader. Bruno, Gross, Lallana, Milner and Webster for example have all been better leaders but are no longer here or not available.

Unless I’m mistaken I’m sure @Bozza said last night Solly said he wasn’t ready to start?

100%

Even now I would think Bruno would be a more competitive RB than Hinsh or Wieffer.

On the Border
Pedro has been absolutely dog shit since he got called up for Brazil in March, playing like some kind of prima donna. My 16 year old called it today - “he’s playing like he’s already at Liverpool”.
Well a 3 game ban virtually ensures he won't be injured for his big summer move.

We've missed a gross/lallana style calm, authoritive leader on the pitch. Steele gives it, Webster does too and Milner does. Dunk is more a fierce up and at'em style

Posted about Welbeck's comments yesterday. Very telling. On the one hand we have our manger saying "we shouldn't point fingers" and Danny, an experienced pro, been there seen it done it in the PL for teams at all levels and a winner say "some players aren't playing for each other and it's happened too many times this season". He's not listening to people saying we're like whiny Utd fans.

The main point for me is that I thought/presumed the Forest debacle got rid of these performances but it's the manner of performances since we went behind against Villa is disgraceful really. Weak, soft, naive, lazy, arrogant. I cannot stand some of our players attitude:
JP - deliberately slow on the ball and has been a walking red card many times this year. He's let everyone down.
Minteh - stopped defending last few weeks. Refuses to kick a ball with his right foot and gets mardy, shaking his head when he gets subbed.
Pervis - poor for all four goals yesterday and gave away the free kick V Leicester which led to the second goal. What is wrong with him?
Bart - has shrunk into himself. Maybe being linked with bigger clubs has also got to him

JPVH, March and Jack deserve better personalities alongside them. They care.

I have seen virtually nothing from Hurzelar to suggest he should sort them out. He doesn't have the balls to deal with this on the evidence. 'Friendly authority' - what a load of absolute shit. He has to start March and Mitoma V Potter next week. Watching that second yesterday gave me 22/23 vibes.

I am f***ing furious that they have reverted to pre Forest crap in a matter of weeks.
