Simple question so simple answer please , why has he stuck all these tariffs on?

I'm sorry but this has been done a few times before.

You are asking a question about a very complex subject. If you ask a simple question you will get a very complex answer.

If you want a simple answer, you'll need to ask a very complex question. Sorry

sorry, there isn't an simple answer*. there's a lot of things going on: bring back production and jobs to America, resolve trade deficit, remove tariffs and trade barriers abroad, and raise revenue to replace income taxes. take your pick and there's a lot of details of why that might be a good and bad. generally, if you wanted to do this sensibly you'd set it out as policy over 1-2 years. Trump had decided only way to get anything done is to act abruptly and worry about adjustment or fixing things later.

* apologies, there is a short answer i saw above my post :lolol:

So shouldn't they have a ~42% tariff according to Trump's maths?

($2.5b TD/$3.0b import)/2

The main trade barriers for America are that their food quality and standards are shit. Nobody wants to import food covered with pesticide, hormone injected beef, and chlorinated chicken.

I wonder what happens when somebody shoots this ****.

It’s been mentioned before but there must be elements of various security agencies in the States that have already considered it.

You get an even bigger twat in charge in the form of JD Dunce
Maybe that’s why it hasn’t been done yet.

Deep inside the CIA etc they absolutely must have discussed the damage he is doing to the reputation of the USA abroad, and the threat he poses to national security. I guess the fact that an even bigger **** would just take over might be stopping them putting an end to him.

Maybe, or maybe they've all had enough, are waiting for their DOGE payout and a quiet retirement 😬

As H.L. Mencken said, "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong."

Sums up a lot of Trump's policies

I would be interested to hear how those evangelical Christians who were so enthusiastic about his election justify this in light of the teachings of Jesus about how to treat the poor and needy.
The bible has a verse to suit every deluded belief. In this scenario, they can simply turn to the older and more vengeful testament.

Besides, there ain’t no cult like an evangelical cult. The thought of Trump causing Armageddon will have them wanking themselves silly.
