I think with CH in that season, a) the remit was very different, b) the squad was a lot more limited and c) he personally had a lot of credit in the bank.
At that stage, I was still in the phase of just being satisfied being in the PL. Granted, that B’muff and Cardiff sequence was horrific but overall I can forgive CH. Ultimately he did the job.

This was our best chance to get a European place this season possibly, even top 5. Injuries have done for us but also the games that we should've put to bed but didn't and i include yesterday's game.
It seems that Hurzeler gets the blame for the bad games without any credit for the good.
The bad games probably being home to Ipswich, Wolves, Southampton, Leicester, Everton and Palace and away at Forest, Palace and Leicester.
Assuming Forest is an issue with score rather than the result if every defeat above was a draw and every draw a win we’d have 13 more points. That would put us 3rd and two points behind Arsenal. That would be crazily successful.
If we assume a few slip ups against the teams listed above would have been tolerated and we’d got 8 points out of the additional 13 we’d be 4th. And that would surely exceed everyone’s expectations.
So it seems to me if we’d done a lot better in the games listed above but done worse in some of the harder games and ultimately had the same number of points people would be happy. Or was top 6/7 the minimum expectation?

We could lose or not win any of our last 6 and finish mid table. A poor start next season (say 10 games) and Fab will be under pressure.

Isn’t the issue that the same tactical mistakes are being made now, as they were at the start of the season?
We all thought, or were told, that he’d learned his tactical lessons after Forest. I thought he potentially had and came back from the “Out” camp into the “fence” camp, but the past two home games have had glaring tactical issues again.
On a personal note, I just don’t like his brand of football. It’s arrogant and naive, and the points, whilst a factor, are not the be all and end all.
But everyone feels differently about this, I do appreciate that.

For a team supposedly aiming for Europe again (not now, after the last few games, obvs), that's a lot of bad games, and the fact that 6 of them were at home is even more worrying. So much for the notion of Fortress Amex!

I was "Fab Out" after the 7-0, and I still don't like his brand of football much. But I'm a bit surprised that this weekend's game seems to have changed so many minds. To me it just felt like a near-inevitable result of having to field such a makeshift defence. Yeah, he could have played Cashin and kept Baleba in midfield, but the Cashin thread shows a lot of people would have taken aim at FH if he'd done that, too.
So I'm still on the "trust Bloom and Barber" fence. If this season ends with a "Fabian will be departing and we thank him for his service" message from Bloom, I'm not gonna be upset by that. But equally, if the powers that be think their magical data machine gives enough cause for optimism next season, I'll trust their judgement.
I mean, the best thing for Brighton and Hove Albion would be for FH to come good next season, for his philosophy to become visible on the pitch in a way we can all get behind, and for him to have most of our best players available for selection for most of next season. We all agree about that, surely? So really we're just quibbling over whether that's likely to happen or not, and Bloom and Barber will have a much better-informed view of that than any of us.

Brentford could go either way, West Ham will be interesting, the crowd will be up for it and won’t accept a poor performance.
I guess it comes down to expectations. If the expectation is to qualify for Europe, then currently we are behind target. If the expectation for this season is top 10 with it being a transitional season then we are on target.
Yes, it is a lot of bad games but my point was if we’d done better in those games and worse against Arsenal (H and A), Man City (H), Newcastle (A), Aston Villa (A), Chelsea (H) and possibly Bournemouth (H and A) and ultimately had the same number of points would people be happier? If so, then by all means criticise the poor games but give Hurzeler credit for the good games when summing up if he should be sacked or not.

Well Of course not. Hurzeler has had just a good a season (so far) as Iraola, Frank and Silva. Do you think they're likely to be sacked ?

I'm really not sure how i feel about FH.
After the 7-0 i wanted him gone, perhaps acting on emotion at the time. In the run that followed he earnt his stripes, but we seem to be slipping back to the dross now.
On one hand, Saturday was not the result of FH's mistakes, rather certain players missing big chances & making costly mistakes. But on the other, his in game management was piss poor in the second half and allowed Leicester to take control and nearly win it.
I've never really felt the connection with him either, like fans had with RDZ.
