The final act of two very desperate men.
Zelensky has given them two fingers with his crimea comment and they are desperately trying to shame him into doing what they want. This is a prime example of what happens when you surround yourself with ‘yes’ people and have a complete over estimation of your own power.
Trump et al were expecting Zelensky to capitulate because, of course, he isn’t as clever as Trump and Vance. When you’ve been fighting a war for three years these to twats aren’t going to worry him. The way they treated him in the oval office showed their true colours so Zelensky wasn’t going to even consider toeing the line. I actually think he has been pulling their chain right up to the crimea comment.
I'm not sure that is true. I think they offerred a deal they knew was unacceptable to Zelensky so after he rejects it they can say he is being difficult they can walk away. They can then stop supporting Ukraine and start business deals with Russia.
They were in a difficult position before as Zelensky had accepted the 30 day ceasefire but Putin had not. This made Russia look like they were being the difficult party. So this new deal was designed to switch it round.

And now a fig leaf criticism of Putin. No mention of all the civilians he’s murdered. He should be realising that this proves Putin doesn’t want to stop. He probably isn’t.

But what business deals does the US want with Russia? They don't traditionally trade much and I don't see there's much they can offer each other.

For starters, minerals to replace what China will no longer sell them.

Then and any deal that gives Trump a photo op, a kickback (preferably crypto) or inside info on the stock market.

The possibilities are endless.

I think Zelenskyy has done well. He’s weathered the Trump campaign of anger and disinformation against him.

Trump has now realised he’s not getting what he wants.

Putin has realised his ridiculous terms aren’t going anywhere.

And Europe has rallied against the U.S.and Russia.

He’s held his nerve and it’s paying off.

Once Trump has taken Canada & Greenland he has a plan to do a deal with Putin to control the north-west passage which China will either be barred or charged a fortune to use. They will also divide up the Arctic spoils both believe are there, with Denmark gone they will be the only two left to claim it.

The north-west passage passes through Canada. It doesn't go near Russia. And Trump obviously isn't taking Canada

Russia will take any arctic spoils it can, independent of the US.

It will 100% be all about lining Trump & cronies pockets.

The majority of his decisions across all areas of policy will be driven by this.

You may be right, but I'd consider another explanation, namely that Trump never expected Zelensky to go for his 'deal'. What Putin most wants is the ability to continue the war unimpeded by sanctions, with Ukraine weakened and the US onside. Therefore, this whole pantomime was about establishing a pretext for the US to abandon Ukraine and restore cosy relations with Putin.
Also very possible - maybe we'll find out in the memoirs of someone one day.

He's done blisteringly well. Kept cool, played it straight, and left the door ajar for the US in case, just in case, they came around and remembered who their real allies should be.
Amazing guy, and his team - he's the front man but certainly not a one man show.

Russia borders the narrow route past Alaska plus Trump has already talked about doing with Putin over the nw passage.

Yes Putin will take what he wants but even better if US are on side.

Really? They'd be better getting the tech from Ukraine, and developing their own. I'm confident the US could develop something far better than Russia.
Yes, they'd be far better getting it from Ukraine - I was just following the thread line of what deals might the US want with Russia, assuming they didn't do any deal with Ukraine.
