Can he actually play this season though? Someone mentioned he can't play for 12 months because of his sacking, or is that over now?
It's a World of different between chatting to fans on a messageboard, or on the phone for a few days, to settling down into playing football when he wouldn't be...
I know they do. I'm just not aware of a footballer turning a career such as Leon's round to become a success again.
Not sure that's a fair comparison. Calderon made a small mistake but quickly learnt his lesson. Leon, by his own admission, has made a lot of mistakes and not learnt from them...
Not whinging at all, have already said I now think it probably is him in case you missed it. Phoning a number wouldn't change anything, or my feelings towards Leon would it?
As I've said, I don't want him anywhere near the first team, but am looking forward to seeing him involved in REMF.
Because it still leaves doubt in a lot of posters minds. If he is so sure why can't he prove it outright? What's so difficult?
Fair enough if he doesn't want to, that's fine, but it will still leave people questioning him that's all.
To be honest, the amount of time this has lasted I believe...
Christ almighty.
Leon WAS a great player, no questions there. He hasn't shown it for many many years now though and as such he is a big risk.
He has left more than 1 club in dodgy circumstances be it sacked or transfer listed/released, all in quick succession. So to suddenly believe he has...
It's not about giving him a break or not. People are desperate to know if it's really him, but he hasn't done the easiest of things to prove it is. Hence there is still many doubters.
I accept I probably should have reserved certain posts for the thread with the poll asking if he should be given a chance at Brighton this season.
I am all for Leon wanting to give something back and that's why I think his charity offer is a great idea.
As you suggested, doing something for charity would really boost you back up towards hero status again and earn back a lot of respect. Go for it and make your kids proud.
It is bad luck that all your bust ups have become so public, whereas others get kept under wraps
It's a great idea. As I say the REMF is a more than worthy cause to show how sorry you are.
To be fair, if they do think Tony Bloom/Gus Poyet would log onto NSC to check how the posters on here feel about a player before he decided whether or not to give them a trial, then chances are, they're an idiot
It could though, as previously suggested. We can't afford any disharmony in the squad if we are to stand any chance of getting promoted this year. Trialling him, when it's known he doesn't get on with our coaches (Oatway) is asking for trouble. Is he really worth the risk?
