it's in the investment, forward looking to what to do in 6, 12, 24 months. one thing the finance people are saying is the trust is already gone, they wont be investing into US this year incase of further changes, reversals etc.
Which suggests that, even if he did back down there’s zero guarantee the markets will recover given how much they rely on trust and confidence.

The MAGA lot love the idea of ’Draining the Swamp’, it’s just that none of them realised that they are what Trump wants to drain from the swamp. They are the equivalent of the Expat’s that lived in Spain and voted for Brexit. Wankers the lot of them.
Very true, I know a few living in France, Spain and Italy who voted for Brexit. Sadly they already had residence and have not been that badly affected by it? Wankers anyway.

Not that knowledgeable on this but would this drive US investors to invest abroad rather than US markets?
possibly, more likely sit in bonds at ~4% for a while.

Markets do well where there is the rule of law, political stability ands low levels of corruption.

his favoured tactic is to get something, then say that's what he intended all along and change direction.

i've been on some forums that love the whole MAGA thing and they are not happy at all. they may have agreed with the principle of DOGE, punishing China for taking manufactuing, they dont like the means or the outcomes. seeing people layed off instantly, threats to pensions, high tariffs are not what they expected. the Signal leak was a big alarm, leading to realisation Trump and co are not competent.
I know the vast majority of us aren't in the US or American, so can't really fully appreciate what life is like, but the fact that a balls-up like that was the thing that made them wake up is just bizarre.

This is a guy who has already had a shot at the top gig and got voted out (yeah yeah, rigged election – OK mate!). Since then he's overseen his supporters storm the Capitol, been found guilty of all sorts of crimes and spouted so much bullshit that you could fill all the farms in the UK with it. But NONE of that was enough for his followers to think 'yeah, maybe this guy is a bit dodgy'. Gotta be honest, I've got very little sympathy with those people.

Netanyahu is in Washington today for a short-notice meeting. The first foreign leader to attempt to negotiate tariff relief.

This will be exactly what Trump wants, a string of world leaders rocking up to kiss his feet and beg for favours.

I’d guess that he’ll be “nice” to Bibi. Less so to others.

Feeding his feeling of power, exactly what he wants.

The fact is the US economic growth under Biden didn’t deliver to the masses, but it wouldn’t under the Republicans either.

The Yanks just can’t help themselves, anyone that riles against inequality is a communist.

The US working class are already disenfranchised, under Trump next stop the middle class

Months are countable so technically fewer is correct.

No, less than is correct when referring to periods of time like that (confusing I know), because although months are countable, time isn't, and it's really time that's being discussed, not just whole numbers of months.

However, less and fewer are interchangeable these days, aren't they?

No they bloody aren't!

Israel has DGP of aprox 500 billion - it's a relative tiddler in the grand scheme of things. In fact all economies (other than the US) are in relation to China at 19.5T and the EU at 18T. Those two together account for more of the world GDP than the rest of the world's economies combined, so basically, unless he backs down or gets a deal from them, the US is f***ed.

Still can't believe we were stupid enough to leave such an influential and powerful trading block.

Oh, I do love a linguistic diversion :lolol: His "less" was referring directly to months so "fewer" would be technically correct. However, in conversational English, these prescriptivist rules are rarely applied so "less" is just as good if not more natural.

In everyday conversation, only a massive pedant would pick someone up on the use of less rather than fewer.

Yep. We need fewer of that behaviour on here.
